The R1 DVD and iTunes download both sound
superb -- very little filtering, very detailed sound. The DVD has some light NR applied during quiet scenes (opening logo, fades, moments without music or dialogue), while the iTunes has none.
Spectrals aren't very useful here since the dynamics of the DVD have been altered slightly, usually to make scenes with music play louder. The bass during these moments has also been slightly accentuated. Still, the differences are minor.
There's an HDTV capture floating around that sounds like the DVD.
Great post on a forgotten classic. The HDTV seems to be a new scan due to color and detail being much better. Thanks for posting about the DVD NR.
