Chinatown (1974)
Mono:
1991 Paramount LaserDisc [LV 8674-2WS]: Excellent.
1999 R1 Paramount DVD: Muffled.
2009 R1 Paramount DVD: The 2.0 here is a stereo downmix of the 5.1.
2012 Paramount Blu-ray: Identical to the 1999 DVD, but lossless.
2024 Paramount UHD Blu-ray: Identical to the 1999 DVD.
The 5.1 has quite a bit of added Foley - whenever a gun is fired and just about every time Nicholson is in a car. The music is also just too loud in the mix.
