The Lady Vanishes (1938)

1989 Criterion LaserDisc [CC1108L]: Excellent sound. Female voices sound much more life-like than they do in every later release.
 
~1991 UAV VHS: This is a bootleg with a linear track. It sounds awful.
 
1998 Criterion DVD: More noise reduction than the LaserDisc, making this sound veiled and boxy.

2007 Criterion DVD: Similar to the first Criterion DVD but not identical.

2008 Network DVD - 'British Years' box: Identical to the 2007 Criterion DVD.

2011 Criterion Blu-ray: Even more noise reduction than the previous DVDs, and some additional bass reduction too.

2014 Great Movies Blu-ray: This German bootleg* (see comment below) is identical to the Criterion.
