To hear this film without any noise reduction on its audio track, you have to go as far back as the 1993 MGM LaserDisc, which sounds noticeably less muffled than the Warner DVD and blu-ray.

The blu-ray mono is a lossy transcode, for what it's worth. ...Not that anyone ever noticed.
