The Band Wagon (1953)

The Warner blu-ray doesn't carry the original mono mix, only the 5.1 remix. This remix has the same main problems as the 5.1 mix of Singin' in the Rain.

The 5.1 sounds like a mixdown of a mono music/effects stem and a mono dialogue stem, with additional noise reduction (especially on the dialogue track) and wonky levels (the dialogue track is usually too loud). The singing and sound effects sound a lot less 'live' than in the original mix.

The mono was available on the Warner DVD, but sounds best on the old MGM LaserDisc.
