The MGM DVD and the two blu-rays sound very good.
There are some sequences that sound less veiled in the DVD track and some that sound better on the blu-ray. They're very similar, and I don't think the differences are worth fretting over.
12/14/2021: Added the MGM LaserDisc. It's a bit of a strange one; the first 19 minutes or so (or precisely until 00:18:57 on the blu-ray, after the line "Sonja, please. Sonja, darling...") sound better on the LaserDisc, but everything afterwards sounds better on the DVD and blu-rays. The differences are most striking during the opening narration, which has noticeably more noise reduction on the DVD/blu-rays. The rest of the film could very well also have some moderate global NR on the DVD and blu-rays, but it's difficult to know for certain since after 19 minutes the LaserDisc becomes more muffled -- the rest of the film sounds like it was derived from an inferior source that's less detailed (and that can't be corrected with EQ). Below is a comparison made with clips from the first 19 minutes.
Edit: I forgot to add that the MGM LaserDisc bizarrely has PAL speed-up. It was corrected for the comparisons.
