1988 Warner Hi-Fi VHS: Unmanipulated and very detailed, and far and away the best I've heard the film sound. Gunshots sound powerful. (In the later tracks, they lose their impact; in trying to remove every bit of distortion, the 'restorers' have sacrificed heaps of high-frequency detail.) The tape shared with me had a loud constant hum, which I've removed for the comparisons below.
The next four releases are less impressive.
1991 Warner LaserDisc [12235]: Strong noise reduction (not much above 8 kHz), along with a compensatory treble boost. My least favourite of these mainly due to the harsh EQ, although quiet moments benefit from not being noise gated as in the next three releases.
1997 R1 Warner DVD: No treble boost, but subtle sounds are lost in quiet scenes to noise gating. The hiss reduction here is slightly less global, so rather than a blanket >8 kHz reduction, trebly sounds are NRed less.
2006 R1 Warner DVD - Ultimate Collector's Edition: Like the blu-ray - see below.
2006 Warner Blu-ray: Trebly sounds are NRed less than in the '97 mastering, but everything else is similar.
