The mono track on the 1990 Paramount LaserDisc sounds lovely. No issues.
The 5.1 remix on every DVD and blu-ray has some noise reduction on the centre channel's dialogue and it's sometimes also noticeable on the strings in the score. No new sound effects as far as I can tell. The music tends to be louder relative to the dialogue and effects.
It was either the 1990 laserdisc or another pressing after that apparently had an altered song somewhere. I'm not sure what, but apparently there was a disclaimer on the last VHS release that said the soundtrack was changed somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThis disc https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/59471/SF078-1187/Airplane! has a different track to 'Stayin Alive' during the disco scene. The 1990 [LV 1305] definitely has the Bee Gees playing during that scene.
