For the original mono mix, the Criterion and Masters of Cinema blu-rays present it identically -- they sound excellent. The stereo mix generally sounds the same as the mono for most of the film (it is mono for most scenes), but has the song segments remixed for stereo. The 5.1 track on the Paramount blu-ray sounds like a quick upmix of this stereo mix.
sadly the new Paramount Presents BD will exclude the mono track that Criterion's has
