The audio track on the 2014 Shochiku blu-ray (while certainly not perfect–a moderate amount of noise reduction has been applied, at the expense of some dialogue clarity) is better than the one on the 2011 BFI blu-ray. It's cleaner, but most importantly, it has its lower-mids intact, whereas they've been filtered out on the BFI. Lots of important information at these frequencies–the rustling of characters' clothings, footsteps, the bass in the score–that is severely attenuated on the BFI, if not removed completely.
