An Autumn Afternoon (1962)

The Shochiku DVD has the least futzed-with audio track. The Criterion DVD, released just a year later, has some odd filtering applied that kind of cleans up the (infrequent) audible damage, but also sounds more muted and less detailed. The BFI blu-ray sounds exactly the same as the Criterion DVD. The Shochiku blu-ray is the worst sounding of the bunch and is very muffled. The Criterion blu-ray of the Shochiku restoration does not use the audio track Shochiku presumably supplied with their master, but instead recycles the track used for the Criterion DVD but with its high-end lopped off.
