Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962)

The 2012 2K restoration done sounds pretty bad. Compared to the 2008 Criterion DVD, which is my preferred version, everything is muffled and boomy, with bass frequencies accentuated prominently. The Japanese IVC blu-ray presents this track with massive clipping, which the Artificial Eye blu-ray doesn't have. The entire 'Sans Toi' sequence ~38 minutes in has also been spliced in from another source: just before Cléo begins singing, the track switches to this new version, which is drenched in reverb and has clearer/less distorted instrumentation. The vocals in the original mix sound reasonably live, but the sync is also slightly off. I greatly prefer the original.

The old 2000 Criterion DVD (not shown below) is a lot more muffled than the 2008 reissue. The Artificial Eye DVD sounds like the 2008 Criterion but with its high-end more severely rolled off.
