Day of Wrath (1943)

The BFI blu-ray sounds excellent to me. Like the video, it exhibits a very minimalist approach to restoration. The video, while quite unstable (and not necessarily for the better, in my opinion) matches the audio well, which is vibrant, clear, and totally devoid of any problematic hiss reduction. The BFI DVD is similar, but the Criterion DVD sounds slightly worse.
