Fox and His Friends (1975)

The Wellspring DVD sounds clearer and less muffled than the blu-rays. The Arrow DVD sounds worse. The Criterion blu-ray has some additional noise reduction compared to the Arrow blu-ray.

The Wellspring has some high-frequency artefacts present in the opening and end music (see below sample), and intermittently throughout the film too, but these are negligible compared to the additional detail the track offers.

There's some distortion on the Arrow blu-ray present as well that sounds a lot like clipping (perhaps most audible in the end music), but it's been filtered out of the Criterion blu-ray, which is as a result even more dead-sounding.







For what it's worth, the Arrow blu-ray lacks the yellow-tinted highlights of the Criterion blu-ray:
