The new Paramount blu-ray recycles the audio mastering that appeared earlier on Amazon, which itself was similar (although not identical) to the track that appeared on the centennial edition DVD and on iTunes. The latter two are slightly more rolled off (both high and low frequencies) but still sound similar.
The Amazon download is 8.1 dB louder than the blu-ray but identical in all other respects. It is not any more compressed.
They all sound mediocre -- no audible artefacts, but still somewhat muffled.
It's possible that one of the two US Paramount LaserDiscs sounds better, but I haven't heard them.
Update (8/4/2021): Added the 1996 Paramount LaserDisc. It's nothing great -- I think the blu-ray sounds better.
