The Warner DVD and the Warner blu-ray share the same mastering and sound quite poor. Plenty of noise reduction and bass exaggeration.
The Hi-Fi track on the old MGM VHS tape has tonnes more detail and sounds so much more alive. This film was never issued on LaserDisc with a digital track, so the VHS may well be the best it's ever sounded on home video.
