The Warner Archive blu-ray sounds better than the old DVD. I think it's likely that both come from the same source, but the blu-ray track is less noise-reduced.
The blu-ray isn't great by any means (its highs roll off sharply before 8 kHz), but the DVD is much worse.
The film never had a LaserDisc release, but I'm curious how the 1987 and 1991 MGM HiFi VHS tapes sound.
