The Elephant Man (1980)

The stereo track on the Criterion and StudioCanal blu-rays (the standard StudioCanal blu-ray and the UHD - they're identical) is mostly fine but has clear traces of noise reduction in some scenes, making it sound occasionally very murky.

The old Paramount DVD sounds the best overall and has the most detail. The 2008 Optimum DVD uses the same mastering.

The Momentum Pictures DVD was sourced from inferior elements; it's dupey and less detailed, despite having no obvious hiss reduction.
